Electrical system design is the design of electrical
systems. This can be as simple as a flashlight cell connected by two wires to a
light bulb or as wired as a space shuttle. Electrical systems are groups of
electrical components connected to perform a specific operation. Often systems
are combined with other systems. They can be subsystems of larger systems and
have their own subsystems.
Electrical systems
The electrical system of the subway rapid transit consists
of the track electrical power supply, the track control system, and the
electrical systems of each transit car. The electrical system of each transit
car is a subsystem of the subway system. There are also subsystems inside each
transit car, such as the car's air conditioning system. A specification
document is written.
Electrical
system design
A customer would probably write it. The specification
document states in plain language and numerical detail what the customer
expects. If written well, it will be used as a reference throughout the
electrical system design. A functional specification (design) document can be
created that goes into more technical detail. It uses the specification
document as a basis.
Design decisions
Here, calculations can be used or referenced to support
design decisions. Functional diagrams can be created. These use block diagrams
to indicate the information and flow of electrical power from component to
component. They are similar to functional block diagrams used in computer
programs. Schematic diagrams are created showing the electrical connections
between the components.
Single-line
diagrams
It may not show all wires and endpoints. In addition to
single-line diagrams, this should show all circuit nodes. Single-line diagrams
represent three or four-wire three-phase power circuits with one line.
Sometimes wiring diagrams are made. These show and name the endpoints and names
of each wire. In some systems, enough information can be put into the
schematics that wiring diagrams are not needed.
Automated
Machinery
Physically smaller systems that are built many times may use
a wire harness. A full-sized, scaled wiring diagram can be created from the
wiring harness. This wiring diagram can then be laid out on a pin board and
used to guide the construction of multiple harnesses. Harnesses can be inserted
into their equipment as an assembly. Wiring harnesses that are reused many
times, such as automotive wiring harnesses, are made using automated machinery.
Electrical
fitters
The cable list is created in table or list format. Shows
electrical fitters what wires to connect and where. When it's printed on paper,
it's easy for installers to cross off wires as they connect. At a minimum, the
wire list includes each wire name, terminal name, and wire model number or
gauge. It may also include model numbers of wire termination equipment, voltage
classes, class of conductors (high-voltage, high-voltage or control cables),
etc.
Control
panel
A control panel is a flat, often vertical surface where
control or monitoring instruments are displayed, or it is an enclosed unit that
is part of system that users have access to, such as a security system control
panel (also called a control unit). Lyskills provides online Electrical Panel Design Training courses in Pakistan. They are found in factories where they
monitor and control machines or production lines and in places such as nuclear
power plants, ships, and aircraft and mainframe computers. Older control panels
are most often equipped with buttons and analog instruments, while today touch
screens are used in many cases for monitoring and control purposes.
